South Football Senior Profile #85 Sam Tucker LB/WR

Sam is an extraordinary athlete who came back to the football program after a year off. Sam spent his Junior year focusing on soccer and then in his senior year played football and soccer at South simultaneously. Although this is not the 1st instance of a soccer player playing football, it is the 1st time a position player (non-kicker) has done it. Sam started on both sides of the ball in football at LB and WR, as well as mid-fielder in soccer. He would go to football practice every day from 3:30 to 5:30 and then right to soccer practice or a game. On multiple occasions, Sam had a Friday afternoon soccer game and then went directly to the location of our football game and played.

His senior year on defense, Sam had 31 total tackles, 24 solo, 4 tackles for loss, and 1 interception. On offense, he had 9 receptions for 115 yards and 2 TDs. Sam earned his varsity letter in football and was a MAC All-Academic award winner with a 3.71 GPA. He was also named 2nd Team All-MAC White Division. Sam is headed to Elon University in the fall.
